About Kalkan

Situated just 90 minutes drive from Dalaman Airport, Kalkan is the perfect location to explore this historical Lycian region. Once a small Greek fishing port, Kalkan is now a popular tourist destination famous for its high class restaurants, shops and boutique hotels.  Probably one of the most picturesque of Turkish villages along this stretch of coast, Kalkan deserves its reputation as a destination for the more discerning traveler. Narrow cobbled streets twist down to the harbour through the historic town and are lined with whitewashed houses with shuttered windows. Beautiful displays of colourful bougainvillea cascade over wooden balconies and the scent of jasmine greets you in summer.

At night time the village comes alive with lively bars and roof-top restaurants where you can look out to sea as you dine. The town centre is a shopper’s paradise where you can while away many hours browsing the jewelry stores, boutique shops and hidden gift shops
Market day in Kalkan is Thursday where you can stock up on supplies and try you hand at bargaining.
A small pebble beach is at the centre of town close to the harbour. Or you can make use of one of Kalkans more exclusive beach clubs. A small bus ride away is the famous and extremely beautiful Kaputas Beach whose turquoise waters feature on many postcards of the area.  Or just 10 km away is the stunning 18km long sandy beach of Patara.
Of course the area is an ideal base for exploring further afield and you can easily reach some of the areas popular attractions such as Saklikent, Xanthos, Letoon and Kekova.
